Job summary
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse with a current NMC registration and a full driving licence. You will bring a solid background in mentorship and a strong commitment to ongoing professional development.
Confident in fast-paced settings, you demonstrate effective leadership and possess in-depth knowledge of the health needs of children, young people, and their families. Your excellent communication and coordination skills, combined with your ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams, make you an essential contributor to delivering high-quality, responsive care.
Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Team Leader
- Support the Team Leader in managing complex situations, including participation in investigations related to disciplinary matters and other concerns, in line with Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust (SCNHSFT) policies and the established governance framework.
- You’ll manage caseloads, guide a skill-mixed team, and support governance processes.
- As the lead nurse, you’ll represent the service in strategic initiatives, foster multi-agency partnerships, and champion safe, effective care. This is a chance to influence change, drive service improvement, and lead by example in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Qualifications and Training
Essential
- Registered Nurse
- Current registration with NMC
- Specialist Community Public Health Nurse: School Nursing
- Mentorship Qualification
- Evidence of recent CPD including study in relevant fields
Desirable
- Nurse Prescribing, (nonmedical)
- Post Graduate study relevant to the post
Experience
Essential
- Relevant experience working as a School Nurse or equivalent
- Significant experience of working with children and young people
- Significant recent practice with vulnerable children and young people
- Significant recent experience of safeguarding
- Experience of health promotion and public health frameworks
- Demonstrable experience of leadership of a team project group or work stream
- Demonstrable experience of Health Needs Assessment and Profiling
- Mentoring/supervision of junior staff and students
Desirable
- Experience of working within a multi- Agency Team
- Experience of presentation, teaching or training individuals or groups
- Experience of Audit
- Motivational Interviewing techniques
- Experience of clinical care and assessment

- Be either a car driver with a valid driving licence, or have access to an alternative means of transport
