Dalarna University offers two types of scholarships for new fee-paying students starting their studies in 2026 or later.
These scholarships are designed to be transparent, objective, and easy to understand. They reflect our commitment to:

You may be eligible for two types of scholarship if you study at Dalarna University:
– The Choose Dalarna First Scholarship – a 5,000 SEK tuition reduction awarded at the time of admission to students who rank a DU programme first.
– The Academic Excellence Scholarship – awarded throughout your programme based on your results. This scholarship is guaranteed for all students who meet the academic criteria.
Choose Dalarna First Scholarship (worth 5000 SEK)
If you apply to Dalarna University as your first choice on UniversityAdmissions.se, you may qualify for the Choose Dalarna First Scholarship — a 5,000 SEK reduction to your tuition fee in the first semester.
This scholarship is our way of recognising your commitment to choosing Dalarna University.
To receive the scholarship, you must:
– Rank any Dalarna University master’s programme as your first choice
– Submit a scholarship application by February 15th (autumn intake) or September 15th (spring intake).
– Be admitted to any master’s programme at Dalarna University
– As long as you meet these conditions and are required to pay tuition fees, you will automatically receive the scholarship. The amount will be deducted from your first-semester invoice.
Academic Excellence Scholarship
You may be eligible for the Academic Excellence Scholarship during your programme if you meet the academic criteria described below. This scholarship recognises your achievements as you progress in your studies and is guaranteed for all students who qualify.
The scholarship includes two types of awards:
A Semester Award awarded for each semester in which you meet the criteria
A Programme Distinction awarded at the end of your programme if you qualify for the Semester Award in all semesters
How to Qualify for the Semester Award
To receive the Semester Award, you must:
– Complete all 30 credits that are part of your programme curriculum for that semester
– Achieve outstanding academic results (usually this is 15 credits with the top possible grades)
– Ensure all course results are reported within six weeks after the semester ends
– Maintain good academic standing by adhering to the university’s rules on academic honesty
