Job summary

There is a great opportunity for a fixed term contract for a Ward manager for Ward B4. We are looking for an influential and compassionate leader who is motivated to drive change and maintain the high standards of patient care the ward currently delivers. The successful candidate will be supported by a designated Matron, Lead Nurse and strong team of Consultants, therapists and pharmacists. The ideal candidate will have robust experience in acute medicine and care of the older person . The post holder must have a proven track record of commitment to service improvement.

The Ward Manager has a fundamental role in the delivery of high standards of nursing care, safe staffing and ensuring an environment that is conducive to wellbeing and contributing to effective budgetary management.

Post holders will be expected to participate fully in their personal development and review process, in order to achieve the skills required to deliver the role effectively and efficiently.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work closely with all members of the MDT to ensure collaborative working to provide best outcomes for our patients.

The post holder must have previous experience of managing a large team of staff and be able to evidence how they support in clinical practice.

The post holder must have experience of managing a substantial budget and able to demonstrate cost effective management.

If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £45.50. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary

In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.

Person Specification

  • Current NMC Registration
  • Supporting learners in practice course
  • Experience of working in Care of the older person
  • Able to demonstrate awareness of or evidence of clinical governance.
