The Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ) invites applications for a PhD position focused on the microscopic understanding of magnetic spin textures in novel two-dimensional materials using advanced transmission electron microscopy. This opportunity is part of a collaborative project with the University of Chemistry and Technology Prague (UCTP).
This PhD project aims to investigate the unique magnetic configurations of novel two-dimensional materials, focusing on their tunable functional properties. The research will employ advanced (s)TEM techniques to analyze the relationship between material growth, chemical composition, crystal structure, and local electronic and magnetic properties. The candidate will have the opportunity to split their time between FZJ and UCTP, benefiting from comprehensive training and access to state-of-the-art electron microscopy facilities.
Qualifications
MSc, Master 2 de Recherche, Laurea, or equivalent in physics, chemistry, or closely-related natural sciences. BackgroundKnowledge in electron microscopy, experimental work related to two-dimensional materials, crystal growth methods
